DAMASCUS STEEL WAS A TERM USED BY SEVERAL WESTERN CULTURES FROM THE MEDIEVAL PERIOD ONWARD TO DESCRIBE A TYPE OF STEEL USED IN SWORD MAKING & HUNTING KNIVES FROM 300 BC TO 1700 AD. Damascus for these knives were created by forged welding, multiple layers of steels into a solid block called a billet (15N20 &1095 High Carbon Tool Steels). The billet is folded and re-welded several times to produce several layers. Patterns are created by manipulating the steel during the forge welding process. When acid is added to the blade, it attacks the layers of hard and soft steels differently, highlighting the attractive layered pattern in the Steel. The combination of layered hard and soft steel creates blade flexibility, toughness and produces invisible serrations on the blade that aid cutting. The hardness of the steel is 55-60 HRC on the Rockwell scale.
THE BLADES OF THESE WELL BALANCED DAMASCUS KNIVES ARE FULLY HANDMADE, USING DAMASCUS CARBON STEEL CONSISTS OF 256 TO 512 LAYERS.
HANDLE OF DAMASCUS KNIVES ARE MADE BY REAL STAG HORN, CAPE BUFFALO HORN, CAMEL BONE, WALNUT WOOD, MULTI-COLORED WOOD, RAM HORN WITH TRUE BRASS AND CARBON STEEL.
THE KNIVES COME WITH CUSTOM MADE GENUINE TOP QUALITY COW SKIN LEATHER, SHEATHS ARE DESIGNED TO FIT ON THAT PARTICULAR KNIFE.
PLEASE NOTE: That every 4-6 weeks, take salad oil, virgin oil etc. onto all metal parts. For CHEF knives, hand wash- then apply 5-6 drops of food oil on paper towel, wipe on both blade and handle, then take off.. DO NOT KEEP KNIFE IN SHEATH LONGER THEN 45 DAYS.
